Raw Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

The healing properties of this nutrient can't be underestimated or overlooked. It is part of the daily plan at Sanoviv Medical Institute, where I had my first experience with this healthy fat. While there, I picked up the book, The Coconut Oil Miracle by Bruce Fife, C.N., N.D., & attended the weekly Food Preparation Classes where we learned about coconut oil. There, it was used as a staple. When berries were served for breakfast, they were served with slices of fresh, raw coconut. This cuts down the absorption of sugar from the berries to aid in control of blood sugar.  In conjunction with that, it promotes weight loss. How? Read on...

It is a "good fat" contrary to poor reviews of the past. Rather than causing your body to store it as fat, it is rapidly processed by the liver to release energy.  Saturated fats are of two types: medium chains (MCFA's) & long chains (LCFA's). Coconut oil is rich in saturated fat of the vegetable kind (MCFA), not animal kind (LCFA). Therefore, it has no cholesterol, and does not contribute to heart disease, and is easy to digest. On the other hand, animal fats, being long chain fatty acids, can raise cholesterol and be stored in your body as fat.

It is also said to have

  • anti-cancer,
  • anti-microbial,
  • anti-viral,
  • anti-fungal &
  • immune strengthening properties.

For a soothing treat for your skin, try massaging it on right after a shower or bath; your skin will eat it up & be protected from loss of good bacteria that was washed down the drain, and it will have a healthy glow!

Try replacing oil or butter in baking recipes with coconut oil for a healthy change, or add it by the tablespoon to smoothies or shakes. It is also the perfect oil for cooking at high temperatures, so try using it to saute vegetables or fish, or try popping some popcorn in coconut oil, add a little butter, and you have a great snack.
